Jessica asked me if I could accompany her to meet Leonard’s lover. The conversation was anything but civil. The tension in the living room and the uncertainty that Jessica felt in her stomach was unavoidable. A glass of water or tea was not even offered to us. We knew that we entered a war. The lover scolded Jessica and spoke to her as if he was the one that was being betrayed or in the risk of losing, Leonard for good. The lovers’ mother was also present and treated Jessica with as much hostility as he did without feeling any shame. In the inside, Jessica felt as if her pride and dignity was being set on fire with a blowtorch. Looking at each other we wondered if they would ease or stop the attack on her but it escalated.
